KABAT, Joseph H. (Dubuque, IA, June 12, 1866--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 12, 1940). Kabat, the son of one of Dubuque's premier clothing designers, was nationally acclaimed as a designer of clothing for sports figures. Famed customers included movie star Tom Mix, "Dizzy" Dean, Charles Albert COMISKEY, and Phillip K. Wrigley.

Kabat rejected opportunities to join many of the nation's largest clothing manufacturing and designing firms. His creations won numerous awards and were known to be extremely difficult to copy.
