JENSEN, Doran. (Dubuque, IA, September 1, 1958-- ) In 1947 Doran Jensen's grandfather Al and his brother Pete Jensen founded Jensen's Cafe in Fremont, Nebraska. Doran began his restaurant career working for his grandfather at the cafe.

Jensen worked in the chain-restaurant business for many years. He was known for his founding of such restaurant chains as Timber Lodge Steakhouse, Homestyle Buffet, and Old Country Buffet. He eventually grew tired of chains and started a "Local Landmark Restaurant" dedicated to his grandparents. In 1996, he opened Jensen's Supper Club in Eagan, Minnesota.

Jensen is the former president of the Minnesota Restaurant Association. In 2014 he owned and operated a collection of restaurants in the Twin Cities.
