HOLLAND, Ora. (Barre, MA, Aug. 28, 1825--Barre, MA, Aug. 16, 1910). In 1843 moving west, Holland arrived in Chicago on his way to Jacksonville, Illinois where he learned the trade of being a carpenter and joiner. He came to Dubuque on March 30 1846. (1)

By 1880 he was recognized for building many of the finest residences in the community. His resident at 1296 Mt. Pleasant was listed on the NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES in 1986. His works include 1295 Prairie, 1296 Mt. Pleasant, and 563 West 11th. (2)
