DUBUQUE COMMERCIAL. Originally published in May, 1874, the Dubuque Commercial was advertised as a "journal of commerce." J. W. Bowen was the associate editor. Subscriptions were available for $1.00 per year. (1)

Under the heading "Dubuque Classifieds," the publication divided the city's citizens into three groups: wealthy conservatives, industrial conservatives, and progressive workers. (2)
