HOPPE, Fred. (Burscheidt, Germany, Mar. 3, 1836--Unknown). Director, Iowa Conservatory of Music. Following the CIVIL WAR, Hoppe taught music in Dubuque and founded the Iowa Conservatory of Music. Elected the leader of the GERMANIA BAND, Hoppe continued as leader when it merged with the Great Western Band.
