AUGE, Thomas E.
AUGE, Thomas E. (Fort Madison, IA--2002). Co-founder, CENTER FOR DUBUQUE HISTORY. A Fulbright scholar in 1995, Auge wrote widely about the Dubuque area and modern European history. In additiion to presenting papers on many campuses throughout the United States, he wrote Frederic Ozanam and His Worldwhich was published in 1966. Auge was a contributing author of Seeds of Harvest--A History of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. He taught history at LORAS COLLEGE for nearly thirty years.
Auge co-founded the Center for Dubuque History in 1976 with Robert KLEIN and Dr. John HESS. In the late 1960s, he was instrumental in the formation of the Black Student Organization. Following his retirement in 1993, Auge held the rank of Professor Emeritus of History at LORAS COLLEGE. He received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the college in 1995.
