SMITH, Dwight T.
SMITH, Dwight T. (Dummerston, VT, Feb. 14, 1845--Unknown). Smith left home at the age of nineteen and came to Dubuque. He began as a clerk for the M. M. Walker and eventually developed his sense of the business well enough to be a traveling salesman for the firm.
In 1891 his rise to partner in the company led to the company's name becoming M. M. WALKER COMPANY. Smith was active in the Iowa State Horticultural Society and presented lectures to the group. (1)
Smith was also the manager for ten years of the Consolidated Tank Line, an oil business.
