PAGE, John. (Sure, Germany, July 26, 1844--Unknown). In 1873 Page began working in the Catholic Printing Office. He worked there three years and then was involved in operating a restaurant and saloon for some time in Dubuque before having the PAGE HOTEL constructed in 1883. The four-story brick building at the corner of Fourth and White STREETS was noted for offering steam heat and both gas and electric lighting.

In 1880 he was serving his second term as alderman from the Second Ward.
