PERSIAN GULF WAR. Middle East military campaign of the United States and its allies taken in 1991 against Iraq because of its military takeover of Kuwait. With decisive action, the military portion of the campaign was completed within hours.

The only Dubuque soldier killed in the action was 21 year-old Ronald Rennison, the victim of a Scud missile attack on an American military barracks in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in February.
