FARBER BAG AND SUPPLY COMPANY
FARBER BAG AND SUPPLY COMPANY. Morris Farber started FARBER & SONS in 1910. In the early years, the business included scrap iron and furs, hides and wool. Produce was later added. The company included all his sons. Frank Farber joined the company in 1933 and shortly thereafter the bag business was added. In 1948 the company was located at 60 and 64 S. Main. The 1980 through 1985 Dubuque City Directory listed 64 Main. The 1987 Dubuque City Directory listed Kapp Drive.
The business split into two parts in the 1950s. Farber & Sons Burlap Bag Company included Morris, Frank and Louis Farber. FARBER FRUIT COMPANY included Harry and later Barry Farber. David M Farber joined the family business from 1970 to 1995.
In 1979 the company was renamed Farber Bag & Supply company. Jim Farber joined the business in 1982 and in 2010 was the president.
In 1986 due to highway construction in Dubuque, the company relocated to 8733 Kapp Drive, Peosta, Iowa. Company products include multiwall paper bags, burlap bags, woven poly bags, sand bags, produce bags, landscape nursery supplies and tools, tree digging wire baskets and supplies, road covers, and curing blankets.
