BOLAND, Herbert. (Dubuque, IA-- ). In 1963 Boland's play, "Battle Dream" was debuted at the Arena State in Washington, D C. The play won the $2,000 first prize in the seventh annual Arts of the Theatre Contest in 1960.

Boland graduated cum laude from LORAS COLLEGE and then studied for two years at the Gregorian University in Rome. When WORLD WAR II began he joined the Air Corps and flew several combat missions over Germany. With experience in the LORAS PLAYERS, he did graduate work at the University of Iowa and the Catholic University of America. He worked to New York in 1950 working as an actor, director, and writer. At the time his play was being presented, he also broadcast a regular daily program from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange which was carried by 125 radio stations in the United States and Canada.
