Land behind this chain link fence was once the Third Street Cemetery.

CITY BREWERY (THE). Ignatz Seeger opened a small brewery on Locust Street in 1852. Called the Stone Brewery when it was opened, it was the third brewery in Dubuque. The name was changed in 1858 to The City Brewery which it retained for ten years. The company was reorganized as the DUBUQUE JOINT STOCK BREWING COMPANY in 1870.
