CREMER, Ralph Sr. (Unknown--Dubuque, IA, JAN. 9, 1997) A bread truck driver when he purchased purchased a confectionery store at 1415 Rhomberg, Cremer expanded the business to sell groceries and meat. The business moved to 731 Rhomberg where it remained in 2016, the last of the independent grocery stores in Dubuque.

Cremer's Superette became famous for its meats and TURKEY AND DRESSING SANDWICHES. Although he retired in 1978, he continued to do the company's books until 1998. Known as "Grandpa" to his many customers, Cremer was remembered for the unlit cigar he always carried and his determination to provide quality food. The store was later operated by his sons.
