"INCUBATOR HILL." High birth rates in Dubuque were hardly a rarity. One location in the early 1950s was given, at least by its residents, a special nickname due to the many children. "Incubator Hill," an area around Air Hill, Wilson, and Caledonia had the designation. At one time, a family in the area had nine children, but only ranked #3. Another family had 16 children and another had 12.
