HELBIG, Esther. An educator in the Dubuque public schools, Helbig served as the secretary of the Northeastern Iowa Teachers Association. (1) She taught at IRVING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in 1927 and in 1928 she was listed as a primary teacher. (2) She was elected president of the Iowa State Teachers' Association in 1929 and in 1930 was a featured participant in 1930 at a meeting of representatives of every Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in the city. She was serving as the principal of MARSHALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in 1948. (3)

Outside of her career, Helbing was active in the Girl Scouts. A committee member of troop 10, she received a ten year pin in 1942. (3)
