ASSOCIATED THEATRES
ASSOCIATED THEATRES. In 1936 as a Christmas Party, John Herbert MACLAY of Associated Theatres hosted more than 300 orphans from MOUNT PLEASANT HOME and ST. MARY'S ORPHAN HOME along with members of the DUBUQUE BOYS' CLUB to a showing of "Tarzan Escapes" at the STRAND THEATER. INTERSTATE POWER COMPANY shared in sponsoring the event by furnishing transportation. (1)
In 1961 Nicholas J. YIANNIAS was assistant manager of the company which included the ORPHEUM THEATER (2) Yiannias eventually took over the company which was renamed Dubuque Theaters Corporation.
The 1945 through 1962 Dubuque City Directory listed 147 8th Avenue.
