Friederick Ludwig Egelhof came to this country in 1880. He anglicized his name to Frederick Louis Egelhof and settled in East Dubuque. The next year he moved to Dubuque. He was a cabinet maker by trade and was employed in the various woodworking factories in the city until 1890 when he entered the funeral directing and art store business.
