ALTMAN, Theodore. (Duchy of Luxemburg, Germany, Mar. 23, 1833-Chicago, IL, June 30, 1939). Owner of the Harmony Hall and publisher. Altman immigrated to the United States in 1857 and came to Dubuque. In 1866 he purchased Harmony Hall-a hotel and one of Dubuque's most prominent buildings. He is remembered as founder of the Luxemburg Gazette.
