Later Newman worked for [[CONNELLY, Thomas|Thomas CONNELLY]] and [[ARMSTRONG, Thomas|Thomas ARMSTRONG]]. In 1877 he established his own carriage factory and in 1890 constructed a new factory, J. Newman & Son, manufacturers of carriages, buggies and wagons.
