IOWA BREWERY. Local brewery established at 2327 and 2329 Couler Avenue. Founded in 1855 by [[SCHMID, Titus|Titus SCHMID]], B. Scherr, and F. Beck as Titus Schmid and Company, the firm operated until 1877 when [[MEUSER, William H.|William H. MEUSER]] purchased the property. The company employed twelve workmen, earning a total of $620 per week, to produce five thousand barrels of beer annually.
