AMECHE, Don. (Kenosha, WI, May 31, 1908-Scottsdale, AZ, Dec. 6, 1993). Actor. Ameche was a well-respected Hollywood actor with such film credits as "Cocoon," for which he received an Oscar in 1986. He attended COLUMBIA COLLEGE (LORAS COLLEGE) and, in 1925, was elected captain of the basketball team. On November 26, 1932, Ameche married Honore Prendergast, a Dubuque girl and an alumnus of CLARKE COLLEGE.
