KLAUER-DANCER, Abby McDonald. (Dubuque, IA, Oct. 26, 1898-Dubuque, IA, June 4, 1990). The daughter of Andrew Young MCDONALD II and granddaughter of the founder of the A.Y.MCDONALD MANUFACTURING COMPANY, Abby was married to Walter E. KLAUER.
She was a past regent of the DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION and a founding member of the DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY and the DUBUQUE REGIONAL HUMANE SOCIETY.
Abby also had a small but significant role in the production of MOTION PICTURES in the community. In 1961 she was a major force behind restoration of the SHOT TOWER. Her sprawling home on the bluffs over Dubuque became a bed-and-breakfast called ALTA MONTE.
