AVELO AIRLINES. On March 22, 2023 the first flight of Avelo Airlines landed at the [[DUBUQUE REGIONAL AIRPORT]] with 160 passengers. The outgoing flight was booked with 163 passengers. The airlines provided service between Dubuque and Orlando International Airport on Wednesday and Saturday on a Boeing 737 aircraft which was capable of holding 189 passengers. Avelo's flight marked the first commercial flight from the Dubuque airport since American Airlines stopped service in September, 2022.

On June 23, 2023 officials of Avelo Airlines announced that air service would begin between the Dubuque Regional Airport and the Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport on September 13, 2023. The connection would provide twice-weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays being Boeing 737 aircraft. Fares would start at $69. (2)  
On June 23, 2023 officials of Avelo Airlines announced that air service would begin between the Dubuque Regional Airport and the Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport on September 13, 2023. On November 17, 2023 news that the airline had used all the $1 million in a minimum revenue guarantee agreement incentivizing Avelo Airlines to provide commercial service to Dubuque. The fund had been established by the City of Dubuque and Dubuque County to help the airline offset the initial investment used to attract customers. Avelo requested $584,652 after the first three months of providing service and the remainder in September. (3) The announcement that this air service would be discontinued after January 6, 2024 was made in November, 2023. The decision according to company officials was based on low demand and increasing costs of air travel. (4)
