KRETSCHMER, Charles G. (Gloschkau, Germany, Jan. 22, 1822-Dubuque, IA, Dec. 9, 1897). Educator. Kretschmer is believed to hold the record for service in the [[DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT]]. At his death, he had over fifty years of educational experience in America and Europe, fifty years within Dubuque, and thirty-nine years of continuous service in one school.
