GROVE DRIVE-IN. John Terry purchased the Grove Drive-In from fish marketer John Donahue in the mid-1950s. Located on U. S. 20 across from the Center Grove Cemetery, the restaurant had a miniature golf course and a small train that ran around the perimeter. Pork tenderloins and hand-breaded chicken were two of the restaurant's favorite items.

The business was closed during the winter. Terry took other jobs to support his family including one at VALLET POULTRY COMPANY INC.. His experience with chicken continued when he purchased a restaurant on University and added his name--JACK'S CHICKEN PALACE.

The 1955 Dubuque City Directory listed Center Grove.
