FLUTED SHELL. Historically the fluted shell mussel was widespread but uncommon. It has become very rare in the MISSISSIPPI RIVER and is considered jeopardized. Its habitat is usually small streams. The hosts for the young include yellow perch, walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, common carp, and bluegill.
