DUBUQUE COMMUNITY STRING ORCHESTRA. In 2011 the orchestra was an all-volunteer, non-auditioned ensemble of adult musicians. Founded in 1998 by Tracey Rush, the group performed its first concert playing Christmas carols at a nursing home.
Since then, the orchestra performed over thirty concerts in the tri-state area with forty-four soloists, five choirs, and a middle school orchestra. It has commissioned six world premiers, involved over one hundred string players and presented two public concerts annually.
In 2011 the orchestra was sponsored by the NORTHEAST IOWA SCHOOL OF MUSIC.
