After learning the watchmaker trade in New York City, Rose came to Freeport, Illinois in 1875 to become the superintendent of the Freeport Watch Factory. When that company was destroyed by fire, he opened his own jewelry business.  Rose moved to Dubuque in 1884 and with [[RICHARDS, A. V.|A. V. RICHARDS]] established the firm of [[RICHARDS & ROSE]].

ROSE, George P. Jr. (New York State, 1844-- ).
