MAIN STREET AND HIGH BRIDGE RAILWAY COMPANY. The proposal of a charter for a new street railway company was brought to the city council on August 5, 1889. Those invested in the project included James LEVI, Alonzo J. Parker. George W. Kiesel, Lester C. Bissel, C. M. Peaslee, A. C. Buettel, F. A. Rumpf, Dorrance Dixon MYERS, John Peter ELLWANGER and John M. MCDONALD. (1)
According to the ordinance, work on the line had to begin no later than April 15th of 1890. It was ultimately the aim of the company to run the line over the high bridge to East Dubuque. (2)
