SUSTAINABILITY. One of the first efforts, unintentional although it might have been, to practice sustainability came from the [[WESTERN UNION TELEGRAPH COMPANY]] in 1891. In June the new telegraph blanks were printed on both sides--the old forms had a blank side. People needing memo paper were known to step to a telegraph window and take an entire pad of sheets off the counter.  The sizing in the paper made it popular for those who used pens. (1)
