Graduated from [[COLUMBIA COLLEGE]] in the class of 1895, Conry began theological studies at Grand Seminary, Montreal, Canada. Ordained a priest on December 17, 1898, he served as an assistant at [[SAINT RAPHAEL'S CATHEDRAL]] for three years and was then, in 1901, appointed head of the English Department at Columbia College.
