STRIBLING, D. Barak (Dubuque, IA-- ). The son of the late Donald W. Stribling and Lauretta and a graduate of DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, Stribling, lead designer with By Barak, began designing costumes for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2009. His first costume was a corset worn by Katy Perry in 2010 for her performance. Another piece created was an outfit worn by Karlie Kloss in her first show in 2011. Made to look like a jellyfish, the pink wings flowed and iridescent beads on the bodysuit shone to give it an aquatic look.

The work begins in March and April with designing and creating the costume. Stribling works throughout the year, using a fit model to make adjustments. While Stribling watched the first show from the audience, by 2015 he could be found in the back with the models, making sure everything run smoothly.

For Adriana Lima, Stribling created a black and velvet pearly, a London tradition where people adorn outfits with pearl buttons and raise money for charity, with 10,000 buttons. He said Lima was very curious and during an interview, was able to explain its importance and significance.

In 2015 Stribling created sixteen looks which only lasted 20 minutes, despite the program's hour-long television broadcast. The firework bodysuit he designed for Cindy Bruna was chosen as a favorite of Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, creative director of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
