WAPLES HOUSE.
One year ago last January the Waples' House was bought for $12,500. Recently the Messrs. Gages, proprietors of the Tremont House, Chicago, offered $25,000 for it, all cash up. The offer was refused and the property was held at $35,000. This is a sufficient commentary upon the growth and prosperity of Dubuque." — [Express, May 23, 1854.)
