CHOUTEAU, Jean Pierre. (St. Louis, MO, Jan.19, 1789-- St. Louis, MO, Sept. 6, 1865). Businessman and frontiersman. Chouteau, nephew of Rene Auguste Chouteau, arrived in this area after the death of Julien DUBUQUE. He is believed to have stayed briefly and then returned to St. Louis.
