ALEXANDER H. MACKINZIE. MacKenzie, originally from New York City, arrived in Dubuque in 1875 and purchased the gallery opened and operated by the famous Samuel ROOT.
In 1878 he partnered with Iowa native D.W. Harper establishing the MACKENZIE & HARPER Studio at 751 Main Street.
The 1883 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business was located at the corner of 17th and Clay.
The 1886-87 through 1890-91 Dubuque City Directory listed 1699 Clay.
The 1899-1900 Dubuque City Directory listed 1678 Clay.
The 1909 Dubuque City Directory through the 1915 Dubuque City Directory stated that this company was located at 1678-1680 Clay.
The 1916-1917 White's Dubuque County Directory listed 1678 Clay as the address.
The 1918 and 1923 Dubuque City Directory listed 1680 Main.
