PALEN, John. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 20, 1869--Dubuque, IA, May 20, 1927) The son of Mr. and Mrs Nicholas Palen, John joined the [[DUBUQUE FIRE AND MARINE INSURANCE COMPANY]] as an office boy at the age of fourteen. Following the death of [[CONNOLLY, Maurice|Maurice CONNOLLY]],, he was elected vice-president of the company. From 1912 until his death, he had also operated a general realty and insurance business at 1814 Central.

PALEN, John. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 20, 1869--Dubuque, IA, May 20, 1927) The son of Mr. and Mrs Nicholas Palen, John joined the DUBUQUE FIRE AND MARINE INSURANCE COMPANY as an office boy at the age of fourteen.

Following the death of Maurice CONNOLLY, he was elected vice-president of the company. From 1912 until his death, he had also operated a general realty and insurance business at 1814 Central.
