She traveled to New York in the early 1980s and found work as a model. (1) Returning to Iowa, Marianne obtained a BA in English Literature from the University of Iowa and then studied acting which led to a bit part in the movie "The Untouchables." (2) She returned to modeling for awhile and on a job in Japan met her future husband. (3) Despite pressures of her work, she continued to find time to write. She also continued her education. While abroad, Choquet acquired a Certificate de Lange Franciase from the University of Paris-Sorbonne and an MA and PhD in Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of Barcelona.
