PRENDERGAST, Clare. (Alliance, NB--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 2, 1976). Champion bowler. Prendergast became the first state champion in Class B when she scored a total of 1,465 in 1939. Once runner-up in the women's city golf tournament, Prendergast taught in the [[DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT]] and retired in 1971 as supervisor of home economics.

She taught home economics at [[CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL]] AND [[JEFFERSON JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL]] until 1949. She then moved to [[DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL]] as the department chairperson. When [[STEPHEN HEMPSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL]] opened in 1970, she moved there as the department chairperson for the [[DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT]]. She retired in 1971 as supervisor of home economics.
