CARROLL BROTHERS. Started by James H. Carroll, the grocery was first operated with his son, Charles. It was later operated by Charles and his younger brother, John. Charles left the business to live on a farm south of Dubuque around 1897.
The 1873-74 Dubuque City Directory listed the south side of 1st 5 west of Main.
The 1874-1875 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business was located at 154 1st.
