AMERICAN RESTAURANT. Samuel Upton established the American Restaurant in 1862 on the corner Seventh and Main STREETS. This was destroyed by fire in 1874. It was rebuilt on Main Street making it the oldest in the city at that time.
The 1884-1885 Dubuque City Directory gave 583 Main as the address.
