HANCOCK, John T. (Lebanon, IL, Nov. 12,1824--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 14, 1894). Major midwestern grocer and senior member of the firm of John T. Hancock and Son. Hancock settled in Dubuque in 1845 and established the business that carried his name on Main Street between Second and Third [[STREETS]]. His business remained in this location for nine years and was then moved to the corner of Main and Fourth.
