UPTON, Samuel. (England, Feb. 15, 1832--Dubuque, IA, 1903). Proprietor, American Restaurant, 583 Main Street. Upton came to America in 1850 and to Dubuque in 1852. He was involved in making brick and mining before established his present business in 1862 on the corner Seventh and Main [[STREETS]]. This was destroyed by fire in 1874. It was rebuilt on Main Street making it the oldest in the city. Upton served two years as deputy marshal.
