ARMSTRONG, Thomas. (Ireland-- ). Manufacturer of carriages buggies and sleighs. ARMSTRONG'S CARRIAGE AND WAGON COMPANY located at the corner of Jones and Locust STREETS, was built by Thomas Armstrong after years of working in the industry in Dubuque. He emigrated to America in 1853 and finished learning his trade in New York. He came to Dubuque in November, 1854 and held the position of foreman for Augustine A. COOPER for a number of years.
In May, 1865, Armstrong established his own business on Third street. He remained there for ten years and then he built his present factory. Armstrong manufactured spring wagons, carriages and buggies.
