DIAMOND JO. Second floating casino in Dubuque County. Replacing the [[DUBUQUE CASINO BELLE]] in 1993, the Diamond Jo was manufactured by Fletcher Leasing, one of the oldest steamship/barge excursioin companies in the Northeast. It was refurbished by the Bollinger Shipyard near New Orleans where sixty feet was added to its lengthThe boat, measuring an estimated 189 feet in length, was scheduled to have seventeen gaming tables, 320 slot machines and video games and two bars.  The boar provided a daycare center and a passenger capacity ranging from 750 to 800.

On January 21, 1999 the Diamond Jo was sold to AB Capital, LLC which became Peninsula Gaming LLC. In May 2004, the Diamond Jo stopped cruising when the Iowa Legislature lifted the requirement that riverboat casinos cruise 100 days annually. In December 2005 the Diamond Jo became officially a permanently moored vesselOn December 7, 2008 the riverboat closed in anticipation of the opening of the [[DIAMOND JO CASINO]], a land-based complex.


In November 1997, the Las Vegas-based Cambridge Iowa Gaming Company agreed to purchase the boat.  The company also announced that it would work with the city council to further develop the Fourth Street peninsula.
