ASSOCIATED THEATRES. In 1936 as a Christmas Party, [[MACLAY, John Herbert|John Herbert MACLAY]] of Associated Theatres hosted more than 300 orphans from [[MOUNT PLEASANT HOME]] and [[ST. MARY'S ORPHAN HOME]] along with members of the [[DUBUQUE BOYS' CLUB]] to a showing of "Tarzan Escapes" at the [[STRAND THEATER]]. [[INTERSTATE POWER COMPANY]] shared in sponsoring the event by furnishing transportation. (1)

In 1961 [[YIANNIAS, Nicholas J.|Nicholas J. YIANNIAS]] was assistant manager of the company which included the [[ORPHEUM THEATER]] (2) Yiannias eventually took over the company which was renamed Dubuque Theaters Corporation.
