B. A. S. S. TOURNAMENT. The first time Dubuque hosted the National B. A. S. S. (Bass Anglers Sportsmemn Society) Iowa chapter tournament was June 7-8, 1997. Anglers worked with a five fish, 14-inch limit in a catch and release format. Fish were weighed on a special barge in the ICE HARBOR and then released.
Hosted by the Diamond Jo Casino, the fishing took place between Clinton and Guttenberg. The tournamen winner qualified for a seven-state regional tournament. The B.A.S.S. Bassmaster Classic was held later in the year.
