B. A. S. S. TOURNAMENT. The first time Dubuque hosted the Nation B. A. S. S. (Bass Anglers Sportsmemn Society) Tournament was June 7-8, 1997. Anglers worked with a five fish, 14-inch limit in a catch and release format. Fish were weighed on a special barge in the [[ICE HARBOR]] and then released.

Hosted by the Diamond Jo Casino, the fishing would take place between Clinton and Guttenberg. The winner would qualify for a seven-state regional tournament. The B.A.S.S. Bassmaster Classic would be held later in the year.
