CORRANCE, Hugh. (Lanarkshire, Scotland, Nov. 20, 1839--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 21, 1909). Corrance came to the United States in 1863 and immediately came to Dubuque. He worked as a clerk in the firm of Mulligan & Hentrager and later was employed with John Mehlhop.

In 1870 he began his own business and opened a grocery store with P. P. Saddler in the firm of Saddler & Corrance. He bought his partner's interest after two years and continued the business on the northwest corner of Thirteenth and Iowa STREETS on his own as the Corrance Grocery Company.

Corrance also served as a director of the DUBUQUE BUILDING AND LOAN ASSOCIATION and the SMEDLEY STEAM PUMP COMPANY.
