HAAS, Julius W. (Kingdom of Wurtemburg, Germany, Oct. 19, 1829-- ). Druggist.  Haas, a partner in the firm of Junkermann & Haas, 776 Main Street, began learning the drug business when only fourteen years of age. He emigrated to America in 1853 and came to Dubuque in 1854. In association with his present partner, [[JUNKERMANN, Otto|Otto JUNKERMANN]], he established the firm of Junkermann & Haas.

Haas, a partner in the firm of [[JUNKERMANN & HAAS]], 776 Main Street, began learning the drug business when only fourteen years of age. He emigrated to America in 1853 and came to Dubuque in 1854. In 1878 he was a partner of E. A. Linehan on 12th and Iowa.  A article recalled  him purchasing "Jacob," a cockatoo, both of which were still there thirty-eight years later.  (1)
 
In association with his partner, [[JUNKERMANN, Karl Frederick "Otto"|Karl Frederick "Otto" JUNKERMANN]], he established the firm of Junkermann & Haas. (2) In 1890 he was one of several pharmacists recommended to the governor to serve as pharmacy commissioner. (3)
 
Outside of business, Haas was a member of the Concordia Bowling Club which included in its membership many of the prominent men of the city. (4)
 
He left Dubuque for a journey to Germany and decided to stay. (5)
