Sister Baschnagel, for whom Mary Josita Hall at [[CLARKE COLLEGE]] is named, served as the seventh superior general from 1943 to 1955. She authorized reorganization of the BVM Board of Education, named elementary advisors and superiors, asked pastors with parish schools to free sisters for degree study, and requested pastors to replace one sister from every eight sister-teacher group with a lay teacher.
