Beginning with one piece of equipment used for grading farm fields and digging basements, the company by 2019 had grown to over four hundred machines and more than one hundred employees involved with concrete paving and structures, earthwork, demolition, trucking, and underground utilities.
 
In is first fifty years of business, Tschiggfrie Company was involved in such emergency work as flood prevention during the 1965 flood, grain derailments, water and sanitary main breaks, sinkholes and large slide repairs. Construction work included Tschiggfrie initiated subdivisions including Clarke Crest, Birch Acres, Emerald Acres, Alpine Park Community, Marna Ridge, and Shady Oaks. The company also played significant roles in the [[BEE BRANCH]] restoration, Dubuque Regional Airport, Sunnycrest Manor, Highway 61/151, Dubuque water plant, and the [[NORTHWEST ARTERIAL]].
 
Recognition of their work locally led to contracts being awarded throughout the Tri-State area.

Involved in many construction projects including the freeway through Dubuque, Tschiggfrie was given the first contract on the [[NORTHWEST ARTERIAL]].  Operations were also opened in Manchester and Anamosa with asphalt plants at each site.  The company in 1997 had 250 employees and operated six hundred pieces of equipment.
